Introducing a new GOLD STAR feature on our blog
This is special recognition for people and groups who are making our service area a better place for older adults. The first GOLD STAR goes to Homme Adult Day Center!
According to Carissa Howe, Coordinator, the Center was established because the community saw the need for a place where people could engage in activities and socialize. The Center offers weekday programs for adults suffering from the effects of Alzheimer’s disease, Dementia or other frailties of aging. It allows individuals to engage in meaningful social and recreational activities while providing relief and support to family members and caregivers.
The staff offers supervision, personal care, and medication administration. The noon meal is included if participants attend over the lunch hour, and snacks are provided throughout the day. Individuals can participate in community outings in cooperation with the Forest Park Village handicap bus. General exercise is something the staff encourages for heightened well-being. The Center is located on North Seventh Street in Wausau. It offers optional services such as bathing, physical therapy, beauty salon and foot care treatments, at an additional cost.
